Donald J. Kalavik, age 80, husband of Joan L. (Rhoads) Kalavik, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at home. Born on January 21, 1944 in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son of the late Eleanor (Sombers) and John M. Kalavik.

Don was a proud graduate of St. Pius X High School, class of 1961. He worked at Firestone for 18 years until its closure, beginning in 1963, and he still actively attended breakfast reunions until just recently. He then went on to work as a mail carrier for the Harleysville Post Office until his retirement in 2006.

Family was of the utmost importance to Don, and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was affectionally known as Dzadzi to his grandchildren. He was a founding member and coach for the Pottsgrove Softball League, and he coached his children's teams at Peco fields in Phoenixville. He was an avid sports fan, especially of Notre Dame football, the Phillies, and the Eagles. Over the years, he has methodically grown his baseball card and memorabilia collection.

He was a fan of oldies music, and especially fond of reminiscing of the days gone by of Phoenixville. He enjoyed gardening and took exceptional pride in his yard and ponds.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, Don is survived by five children, Marie (Kalavik) Abderholden, wife of Bruce, Angela (Kalavik) Klick, wife of Chris, Dawn (Kalavik) Metheny, wife of Jesse, James R., husband of Jen (Pierce) Kalavik, and Donald J. II, husband of Marla (Pachler) Kalavik; twelve grandchildren, Ian Marcheskie, Kristin (Sutton), wife of Nick Riker, Kaitlyn Sutton, Draven Klick, Valori Klick, Brandt Myers, Brayden Myers, Ava Myers, Jordan Metheny, Marek J. Kalavik, Johana Kalavik, and Griffin Kalavik; two great-grandchildren, Aria B. Marcheskie and Ezra D. Riker; and one brother, Michael Kalavik. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Alicia R. Sutton; two siblings, John Kalavik and Janice (Kalavik) Sharkey; and a son-in-law, Todd Detwiler.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., 610 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM at the funeral home on Wednesday morning.
