Obituary

Doris Eileen (Thomas) Bowyer, age 80, wife of Rev. Rogers H. Bowyer Jr., of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, in the Suburban Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center, Norristown. Born on October 8, 1944, in Shelbyville, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Anna (Miller) and Robert Thomas.

Doris attended Tennessee Temple Bible College, and it was there, that she met her future husband of 58 years, Rogers. The two were married while still in college and for the next 12 years served as missionaries in Italy, where Doris learned to speak Italian, among other things. Upon returning to the United States, Rogers and Doris joined the American Mission For Opening Churches, serving the Lord in Conshohocken, where she served in any capacity a Pastor's wife could offer.

After her husband was called to serve Phoenixville in 1999, she began her employment in food service in the Phoenixville Schools for many years beginning in 2001. Doris was actively involved, volunteered and made many friends within the Pawling Chapel community for many years, where her husband has served as Pastor since 2001. Some of her favorite things were gazebos, seahorses, smiley faces, and making sure to send personal cards to all her loved ones on special occasions. Her sense of humor and unique personal touches will be missed.

In addition to her loving husband, Doris is survived by her children: Mark D. Bowyer and Michelle Deans, wife of Christopher Deans; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Ethan, and Avery; and siblings: Lola Gregory, Lela Flach, and Carl Thomas.

A memorial service in Doris' memory will be announced shortly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris' name to Pawling Chapel, 400 Pawlings Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
