Dorothy Marie (Washington) Hicks, age 94, died January 19, 2014 at her home in Spring City, Pennsylvania after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Paul Hicks, Jr.

Born June 17, 1919 in Oaks, Pennsylvania to the late Katherine A. (Thomas) and the late William C. Washington, Sr., Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother, raising eleven children.

Dorothy will be especially remembered for her love of cooking and baking. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Dorothy had a love of fashion and jewelry and in her later years, she enjoyed taking bus trips.

Dorothy is survived by five sons; Curtis, Gary, Bruce, Darryl, and David; and five daughters; Sandra Young, Arlene Spence, Cynthia (Philip) Pitchford, Brenda (widow of Steven) Nixon, and Barbara (Hubert) Munnings. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, her brother, William C. Washington, Jr. of Seattle, Washington, and a host of nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her eldest son, Paul Hicks III and a grandson, Tyrese Munnings.
