It is with profound sadness the Marzella family announces the death of Douglas Marzella at the age of 62. On November 3, 2018 he lost his brief but intense battle with cancer. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 41 years, Colleen (nee Somers), his daughter Danielle (Josh) and Doug (Brittany) and Samantha, his grand-daughter who he raised as his own, as well as three additional grand-daughters: Sabrina, Athena and Aria. Doug was the youngest of his four siblings, Frances (Maureen), Michael Jr. (Florence), Dennis (Cheryl) and Diane Carlile (Christopher) who was like a second mother. Doug also leaves behind his parents-in-law, Joseph and Sue Somers, several sisters and brothers-in-law as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Doug was pre-deceased by his parents, Michael V. "Mackerd" and Doris (Freas) Marzella, his niece Catherine Marzella and his nephew Christopher Carlile Jr.

Doug was a lifelong sports enthusiast, playing baseball and football at Methacton High School and Owen J. Roberts High School from which he graduated in 1974. Shortly thereafter he joined the family business Francis L. Freas Glass Works where he worked until his retirement.

Doug was a charming and magnetic man with a contagious sense of humor and a captivating smile that would light up any room. Lending a hand to anyone, his humility and compassion inspired all who knew him and his legacy will live on in those who were touched by his example.

A deeply religious man, Doug's faith gave him and his family great comfort, particularly in these last months. Family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:45 am at Sacred Heart Church, Lewis Road at Walnut Street, Royersford, PA. Mass will be at 11:00 AM followed by burial in Fernwood Cemetery.
