Edmund A. Soper, Sr., age 92,husband of the late Sylvia A. (Normann) Soper, of Red Hill, PA, formerly of Phoenixville, PA died early Sunday morning, June 2, 2013 in the Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living Center in Boyertown, PA. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Harry and Bertha (Ellis) Soper. Mr. Soper attended the Northeast High School in Philadelphia. A veteran, he served for the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He worked as a sheet metal fabricator for most of his life. Mr. Soper was a very active, 60 year member, and past master of the Phoenix Lodge #75, Free and Accepted Masons. Also in the the masonic fraternity, he was a member of Pottstown Royal Arch Chapter #198, Palestine Council #198, Phoenixville, PA; Nativity Commandery #71 Pottstown, PA and Rajah Temple, Leesport, PA.
Mr. Soper is survived by one daughter: Edwina A. "Winnie", wife of Edwin F. Snell, Jr., of Red Hill, PA; two sons: E. Allen Soper, Jr., husband of Evelyn Soper, of NC; Eugene A., husband of Kathy Soper, of FL; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Soper was pre-deceased by three siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Masonic service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday morning, June 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The funeral service will immediately follow. Burial will be in the Green Tree Cemetery, Oaks, PA. Friends will be received from 10-11AM Thursday morning at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
