Obituary

Edna Elaine "Mickie" (Williams) Shear, age 82, wife of Gerald J. "Jerry" Shear Jr. of Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown. Born on November 11, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Edith (Wentzel) Gabosch and Leroy John Williams Jr.

Mickie loved listening to country music, especially Elvis Presley. She enjoyed time spent daily in her rocking chair on her front porch with a cup of black coffee watching the deer stroll through the yard. Although Mickie never really cared what others thought about her, she always had to have her hair done and carried a comb with her so she could redo her hair several times per day.

Mickie was a strong and independent woman. She saw the positive in everything, was never upset, and was just an overall awesome person. She was always so happy and embraced the role as everybody's "Nan." Mickie loved taking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on trips to Valley Forge Park, especially in the "Nanawagon," which transported her family all around. She was everyone's biggest cheerleader and because she cherished the time, she always wanted her family together.

In addition to her loving husband of 45 years, Mickie is survived by her children: Anthony Dean Hillegass, Kenneth Paul "Skeeter" Hillegass Jr., Tracey Louise (Barry) Reigner, and Jason Jerome (Sherri) Shear; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her sister: Edith "Cookie" Christman and survived by Clara Niezer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:30 am, at Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford. Officiating will be the Rev. Sarah Strosahl-Kagi. Interment will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends will be received from 10:30-11:30 am at the funeral home.
