Eleanor Ruth (Wilson) Orner, age 91, died in her home on February 20, 2018. She was the widow of Gordon Robert Orner of Linfield PA who she was married to for 70 years. Born on March 3, 1926 in Phoenixville, PA, she was the daughter of the late William Sloan and Mabel (Fisher) Wilson.
Mrs. Orner was a graduate of Phoenixville High School, class of 1944. She worked at BF Goodrich and retired from Western Electric. She was active in the Telephone Pioneers of America and she also volunteered at the Southeastern Veteran's Center. In addition to her involvement in the Pioneers and volunteering, Eleanor knitted baby caps for infants in newborn and neonatal ICU's for Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono and Bryn Mawr Hospital.
Mrs. Orner was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan; she and her husband had been long time partial-season ticket holders. She was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Audubon, PA.
Mrs. Orner is survived by daughters Mary Beth (Orner) Manville of Yorkville, IL and Jo Orner of Linfield, PA who she resided with for the last eight years. She is also survived by her sister Mary (Wilson) McDermott of Media, PA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 2725 Egypt Road, Audubon, PA, on February 27, 2018 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. William R. Mueller. Interment will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA. Relatives and friends will be received from 10:30 - 11:00 am at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.
