Elizabeth Ruccius, 69, of Phoenixville, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Philadelphia. Born on March 18, 1952 in Valley Stream, New York, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Dorothy (Schirmer) Zipf.
Elizabeth studied at West Chester University, and Temple University where she earned her Doctorate in education. Elizabeth was a Professor of Music Education at Hunter College and Kutztown University. She was a fantastic organist and played at St. Peter’s Lutheran, Zion Lutheran Church, and Linfield United Church of Christ. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, going to the see the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ballet. She loved being able to teach piano to her grandson, David. She was a puppy raiser for The Seeing Eye.
She is survived by her three children; Peter Ruccius, husband of Julia, Andrew Ruccius, husband of Jessica, and Katherine Ruccius, her brother; Philip Zipf, Jr., and her grandchildren; David, Charlie, Eric, Patrick, and Owen.
A service will be held on October 23 at 11pm at Paoli Presbyterian Church. Interment will take place on Wednesday October, 27, 2021 at 12:00pm at Woodland Cemetery, 193 Bellport Ave, Bellport, NY 11713.
