Elizabeth (Gruff) Scheffey, 85, wife of the late Robert E. Scheffey, of Phoenixville, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2009, in the Golden Living Center. Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Kerr) Gruff.
Mrs. Scheffey was a graduate of Pottstown High School before her employment as a telephone operator at the former Valley Forge Army Hospital and as a bank teller and customer service representative until her retirement from the former Southeast and Fidelity Banks in Phoenixville. Along with her husband she was an avid golfer at Meadowbrook Golf Course.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra S., wife of David C. Howe, of Douglassville, grandson, John R., husband of Melissa Howe, of Gilbertsville, and two great grandchildren, Matthew D. and Allison N. Howe. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Bender.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, on Monday, October 12, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
