Ellen M. (Bean) Shear, 88, wife of the late Gerald J. Shear Sr., of Phoenixville, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 in Seasons Hospice. Born on March 8, 1930 in Spring City, she was the daughter of the late Ruth (Wood) and Byron Bean.

She had been employed as a material cutter for the former Spring City Bleach and Dye. She was an avid reader.

Mrs. Shear is survived by her children: Gerald J., Jr., husband of Edna "Mickey" Shear, of Bechtelsville, Ruth A., wife of the late William Bengel, of Phoenixville and Mary E., wife of John Rosky, of Spring City; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and her dog: Kimmy. She was preceded in death by a son: William E. Shear; and her brother: Walter Bean.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Ellen's name to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.
