In loving memory of Elsbeth Sunstein

Our beloved wife, mother, sister, teacher, and mentor Elsbeth Sunstein-Duwan, née Köchli, passed away peacefully early on December 27, 2023 at her home in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania.

Born on April 20,1944 at Häutligen, near Bern, Switzerland, Elsbeth was a talented pianist, and after graduating from the Bern Conservatory devoted her life to music and the students and family she loved. With gentle grace, Elsbeth shared her love of music with countless students in Switzerland and later in her new home in the United States. All those she taught and cared for, including many precious students from the Camphill movement, thrived with her support, as did the colorful flowers in her beloved garden at Cupola Mill.

She leaves behind her husband of four decades, Willard Sunstein; a sister, Marianne Sauerbrey; five children, Sophie Magdalena Duwan, Markus Immanuel Duwan, Christoph Uriel Duwan, Paula Felicia Duwan, and Gottlieb Johannes Duwan; and four grandchildren, Sasha Elara Duwan, Elinor Victoria Duwan, Maël Duwan, and Louan Duwan. She was beloved and will be dearly missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial graveside service, which will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 31 at the Northwood Cemetery, 201 West Uwchlan Avenue, Downingtown, PA. Arrangements are being handled by the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Phoenixville, PA.
