Emily J. (Farley) Rafter, age 76, wife of the late Joseph G. Ratfer, died Saturday afternoon, August 30th, 2008, at the home of her son surrounded by her family.? Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late James J. and Emily J. (O'Connor) Farley.? She was a graduate of the St. John the Batist Catholic High School.? Mrs. Rafter worked for many years at Lankenau Hospital in the Medical Science Building.? She currently was employed at Montgomery Rehab Center, in Wyndmoor.? She volunteered for many years at the polls at the Roxborough library for each election.? She was a devoted parishioner at the Holy Family Parish, Manayunk.? She was blessed with a family who loved and cherished her.
Mrs. Rafter is survived by; four children; Lizanne (Edward) Crawford, Mary Alice (Albert) DiFilippo, Gerald (Kathleen, nee Bass), Rafter, Timothy (Marianne, nee McGrory) Rafter, two sisters Mary (Edward "Ron") Maiden, Kate Gallagher, three brothers; James husband of the late Diane (Hummel) Farley, Rev. Bernard C. Farley, John (Kathleen, nee Williams) Farley.? She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.? The Funeral Mass will be Friday, Sept. 5, at 11AM at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 240 Hermitage Street, Phila, 19127, celebrated by her brother, Rev. Bernard C. Farley.? Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.? Friends will be received at the Church on Thursday evening from 6-9PM, or Friday morning, 9:30 - 10:45AM.?
