Ernest A. Carmello, 93, of Phoenixville died on November 22, 2009 at Golden Living Center, Phoenixville, PA. He was the husband of the late Mary (Simpson) Carmello who died in September.
He was born in Wilmington, DE a son of the late Gennara and Annunzta (Cabbina) Ciarmellano. He is also formerly of St. James Home in Delaware City. Ernest was veteran, serving in the Army during World War II. For his service, he was awarded the American Theatre Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal. After returning home from the war, he became a welder in the shipyards until his retirement.
He is survived by his son, Alfred E. Carmello and wife Donna of Kimberton and grandson Joseph and his wife Heather. His memorial service and interment was conducted alongside Mary at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Thursday, December 10, 2009 with full military honors.
