Obituary

Eva Elizabeth (Finkbiner) Symons, age 85, of South Coventry, died Monday evening, June 15, 2009 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in East Vincent Township, she was a daughter of the late W. Preston and Anna (Super) Finkbiner. Mrs. Symons was a graduate of the former Spring City High School where she excelled as a business student.

Early in life Mrs. Symons worked for a number of businesses and as a traveling voter registrar for Chester County. Later in life she worked as a Hospital Auditor for the former Governor Robert P. Casey who was then Auditor General. Ultimately she worked full time for Chester County Voter Services and loved interacting with the public and supporting the voting process.

Mrs. Symons was a lifelong member of the Pughtown Baptist church. Mrs. Symons was interested in antiques, was involved in the PTA and enjoyed spending time with the friends she and her husband cultivated throughout the years which included many hands of Hossenpfeffer. First and foremost, she supported her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Symons is survived by one son; Harry Clay Symons, Jr., of South Coventry Township, one sister; Elsie Ellis, of Lancaster, PA, two grandchildren; Karen F. Elsmore, of Spring City, PA, James B. Frees, II, of East Coventry, PA, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Symons was pre-deceased by one daughter; Jane Symons Frees, wife of J. Barrie Frees, of Spring City, PA, three sisters; Margaret Hallman, Elizabeth McClimon, Jean Valerio, and one brother; J. Harry Finkbiner.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Pughtown Baptist Church, 780 Pughtown Road, Spring City, PA 19475 on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 11:00AM. Officiating will be Rev. Rhonda J. Cushman, Rev. Milton E. Detterline, and Rev. John C. Kolle. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9:30 - 10:45AM, Saturday morning at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Pughtown Baptist Church at the above address.
