Obituary

Evan J. Kline, Jr.("Jim"), 83, passed away at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

Born in Royersford on February 9, 1939, he was the son of Evelyn V. ("Raysor") and Evan J. Kline Sr. Jim was a graduate of Spring Ford High School and Millersville University, where he met his wife Carol. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force on active duty for five years followed by almost 20 years in the Reserves, after which he was honorably discharged with the rank of Major. Jim worked as a salesman for Roadway Express for 24 years before starting a trucking brokerage business with his son Matt.

Jim was an avid skier well into his 70's, with annual trips to Montana and trips every weekend to the family lake house near Elk Mountain. He loved spending time at the lake house which he helped build, calling it his "greatest investment" because of all the family gatherings there. These types of gatherings of family and friends were his greatest pleasure in life. He was also a fan of Penn State football and wrestling, as well as of the Philadelphia Phillies. Despite health challenges, Jim was an eternal optimist and enjoyed life immensely. When talking about his life, he always said, "It's been a great ride!"

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 60 years, Carol; children Jennifer (Michael Bonshock), Evan (Elizabeth), Matthew; nephew whom he loved as a son Brooke (Melissa); five grandchildren Zachary, Joshua, Elise, Dianna and Delaney; son-in-law Miles Krieger and two sisters, Marianne Mercer (Lee) and Roberta Fornarol.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Brooke Kline, and his brother-in-law Emmanuel Fornarol.
