Florence Ethel (nee Reitnour) Wilson of Chester County PA, passed away at Reading Hospital Tuesday evening, January 26, 2010 following a short illness. She was 89, and was less than one month shy of her 90th birthday.
Florence "Sis" was born February 24, 1920 at the family homestead in Spring City to G. Newton and Anna K. (Weaver) Reitnour. She attended public schools and graduated from the Spring City High School. Following graduation, Florence worked in various jobs in the local community including Dohlers where she proudly produced machine gun parts for the World War II effort.
Florence was loved by all who knew her, and was well known for the many kind acts - big and small - she performed for those around her. She was active for many years with St. Matthew's UCC Women's Guild. She loved to bake and was well-known for her amazing shoe-fly pies.
On September 27, 1947 she was united in marriage to Robert Evans Wilson, Sr. Robert preceded her in death in 2006. She is survived by three daughters: Donna Myer of Elverson, PA, Pamela Dean, of Plato, Missouri, Sandi Trate, of Bear, DE, one son, Robert Evans Wilson, Jr. of East Stroudsburg, PA; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, February 1, 2010 at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, 2350 Conestoga Road, Chester Springs, PA at 11am. Friends may call from 10-10:45am Monday at the Church. Interment will immediate follow in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the St. Matthew's UCC at the above address.
