Francis F. "Flick" Taney, Sr., 87, of Phoenixville, passed away on Wednesday at Phoenixville Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ruth B. (Pickles) Taney, who passed away in 1993.
Flick was born in Norristown to the late Harold and Laura (Orner) Taney. He attended Phoenixville Schools and volunteered for the Army during World War II. He was employed for many years in fabrication at Synthane-Taylor's Betzwood Plant. In his retirement he worked for longtime friend Art Rowland at Rowland's Printing.
He was a member of Valley Forge Baptist Church. Flick was also a member of the Valley Forge Fire Company, where he volunteered on the Fire Police and was also a member of the Friendship and West End Fire Companies both of Phoenixville.
He is survived by two daughters: Sally Fink and husband Ricky, of Phoenixville and Barbara Sims and her husband Dale, of Phoenixville, one son: Francis F. "Flick" Jr., of Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law: Carol Taney of Phoenixville, grandchildren: Tina, Dana, Scott, Bryan, Robert and Angela, and great-grandchildren: Tyler, Damien and Aiden. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Taney in 1969, sister, Dorothy and brothers: Charles and Jake.
His funeral service will be on Saturday at 11 AM at Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main St. at Fifth Ave., Phoenixville, PA. Receiving time will be from 10-11 AM. Burial will be in Valley Forge Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Center at Phoenixville Hospital, 824 Main St., Phoenixville, PA 19460.
