Francis E. “Frank” Galvin Jr., 59, of Upper Providence, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at his home following a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was the husband of Patricia L. (Lyden) Galvin, with whom he shared thirty-five years of marriage.
Frank was born in Philadelphia to the late Francis E. Sr. and Bernice (Rafferty) Galvin. He was a graduate of Lansdale Catholic High School and earned a B.S. in Marketing from Villanova University. Mr. Galvin was employed for many years as a health insurance manager with Amerihealth Administrators and most recently Tompkins Financial Corp.
Frank loved his family. He was the type of father you could always count on as the steady QB for his sons neighborhood football games or pick up basketball games. From coaching sports to helping with homework, he was very active in his sons lives. He loved vacationing at the jersey shore, walking on the board walk with his beloved wife, body surfing and swimming in the ocean with the boys. Frank was a big kid at heart, with a goofy smile on his face and a song on his lips. He made the lives of all who met him a little sunnier. For these reasons and many more, he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his childen: Brian Galvin (Erika), of Hershey; Sean Galvin (Lisa McMillen), of Arlington, VA; Kyle Galvin (Pattie Grant), of Haverford; sisters: Marybeth Dunsmore (the late Walter), of North Wales and Peggy Fitzpatrick (Timothy), of Harleysville; grandson, Henry Francis Galvin.
