Frank J. "Butch" August, age 82, husband of Bonnie K. (O'Toole) August, of Phoenixville, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on December 30, 1939 in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Blanche M. (Sierzega) August Dinkle and Frank J. August, Sr.
Butch had been employed as a flagger for the Pennsylvania State Highway prior to serving the Phoenixville community as a police officer from 1967 until 1988. He was later employed at Melchiore Construction and lastly Johnson Controls prior to his retirement.
Butch was an active member of the Polish Club, having served as club President for many years, running the Sunday morning breakfast, Friday night Bingo, catering and lastly serving as club Steward.
He loved playing baseball from the time he was young until his retirement, having played on many baseball teams, including the Phoenixville Community League, as well as slow pitch and fast pitch softball teams.
In addition to his loving wife, Butch is survived by his siblings: Eugene, husband of Kathleen August, June Schnovel, Kenneth, husband of Dawn August and Kathleen Almy; nephew: David Ferrara; nieces: Heather Wallace and Carol Matty; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 11:00 am, at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc, Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville. Officiating will be the Rev. David M. Lewis. Interment will follow in the Holy Trinity Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Butch's name to any Parkinson's research foundation or animal rescue of choice.
