Furman H. Gyger Jr., 97, of Kimberton, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. He was the husband of the late Laura Kirk Gyger, who passed away in 1985 and the late Mary Walters Gyger, who passed away in 2011. Born in Kimberton, he was a son of the late Furman H. Sr. and Francanna Hoffman Gyger.

Mr. Gyger was a graduate of Phoenixville High School and received a Bachelor's degree in agriculture from Penn State University. He was a third generation dairy farmer on his family's "Spruce Haven Farm" in Kimberton. He was also a real estate agent for Porter and Painter Real Estate in Exton.

Furman was a lifetime member of East Vincent United Church of Christ and was active with The Gideons International. He was a very active member of the Pennsylvania State Grange, a member of the Kimberton Grange, the Phoenix Lodge No. 75 F&AM, and the Rotary Club of Phoenixville where he was Past District Governor from 1977-1978 and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served two terms as a trustee on the Penn State University Board of Trustees. Furman loved traveling and had traveled around most of the world in conjunction with Rotary International conventions.

Mr. Gyger is survived by two daughters, Katherine Gyger Spear, wife of John Spear, of Landisville and Nancy Gyger Bruner, wife of Raymond Bruner, of Phoenixville; seven grandchildren, Janet Jennings, David Spear, Allan Spear, Jacob Floyd, Jordan Soheilian, Peter Bruner, and Katie Bruner; and three great grandchildren, Rachel, Sara and Susan Jennings. He was preceded in death by two daughters, the late Ann Gyger Miller, wife of John Miller of Marco Island, FL, and the late Susan Gyger Floyd, wife of Donald Floyd, of Colorado Springs, CO, and his siblings, Edith Dodge and Wayne Gyger.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the East Vincent United Church of Christ, 282 Hill Church Road, Spring City, PA, 19475 on Monday, August 20, 2012, at 11:00 am. Officiating will be the Rev. Katherine E. Davidheiser. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Friends will be received from 9:00-11:00 am at the Church.
