Futian Han's Obituary
Futian Han, 41, of Phoenixville, PA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 21, 2012 after a lengthy
and courageous battle against cancer. He was born in Leting, Hebei province, China, in 1970, to parents
Han Enhe and Liu Xueru and is the brother of Fuyu Han, 39, of Tanghai, Hebei, China. Dr. Han attended
the University of Science and Technology of China, where he obtained his Bachelors of Science degree
and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he obtained his Master's
degree and Ph.D. in Chemistry.
He married the love of his life, Qingbai Yu, in 1999, before moving to the United States and completing
his Post-doctoral studies at the University of California's Riverside and Irvine campuses. The couple
relocated to Ames, Iowa, in 2003 where he worked as a scientist at Combisep and later Phoenixville, PA,
in 2005 where Dr. Han held the position of Director of Bio Lab at Frontage Laboratory in Malvern.
Dr. Han received several academic honors from the University of Science and Technology in China,
including Excellent Prize of 1999, President Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies, One of Best Students
award, Honors student, and Student Council Member. He was awarded the Yida Scholarship, the
Natural Science Award in China in 1999 and the Best of Paperwork for Ph.D. in 2001. He was also a
Member of the American Chemical Society and holder of U.S. Patents for his research at UC Irvine and
Combisep. He will be best remembered as a loving husband and devoted father.
Dr. Han is survived by his wife of 12 years, Qingbai Yu; two sons, Daniel, 11; and Eric, 8; his mother
Liu Xueru, his brother Fuyu and a large extended family and friends. A public viewing will be held on
Wednesday, April 25, 2012, from 4-7 pm at the Campbell Ennis Klotzbach at Main Street and 5th in
Phoenixville, PA. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 10 am to 12:30
pm at Church of Holy Apostles at Remington Road and Dover Road, Wynnewood, PA. The family asks
that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Cancer Society in memory of Dr. Han.
