Garrett L. Greene, 81, husband of Anne L. (Waltman) Greene, of Trappe, formerly Pottstown, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2009, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Omar V. and Emily (Eckfeldt) Greene.
Mr. Green was a graduate of Muhlenberg Township High School and Lehigh University.
He received a Master's Degree from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. He then served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Garrett was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Oaks, where he served as an Usher and in other aspects of Ministry. He was a teacher at the Hill School in Pottstown for 34 years. Always a student, Mr. Greene was a voracious reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and cooking.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brothers to his family. In addition to his wife of 56 years, Mr. Greene is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. Greene, wife of Keith E. Lynott, of Maplewood, NJ, and Sarah G., wife of Joseph M. Hoff, of St. Louis, MO, brother, Omar V. Greene Jr., of San Antonio, TX, eight grandchildren, one niece, and three nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 126 Black Rock Road, Oaks, PA, 19456, on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 10:00 am. Officiating will be the Rev. Daniel K. Olsen. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends will be received after immediately following the committal service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church at the address above. Arrangements are being handled by the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Phoenixville.
