Obituary

Gary L. Hicks, age 61, of Spring City, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at home. Born on September 4, 1958 in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son of the late Paul Jr. and Dorothy (Washington) Hicks.

Gary was a graduate of Phoenixville High School. He was first employed as a forklift operator for National Rolling Mills in Malvern, followed by Box King Products in Phoenixville. Gary was also the primary caregiver for his parents in their later years, which allowed him and his siblings to honor their wish to live at home until their passing. In his youth, he played football at PMYC. He would then go on to excel and play varsity football and basketball in high school. Following graduation, Gary joined several local recreation leagues, playing on softball and flag football teams. An avid sports fan, Gary was a huge fan of all the Philadelphia teams, especially the Eagles. He also loved his beloved dogs, Snoopy and the late Gizmo.

Gary is survived by two children, Gara Allen and Wandell Ford-Bey; one grandson, Xavier Isme; nine siblings, Sandra Young, Arlene Spence, Cynthia (Philip) Pitchford, Brenda (the late Steven) Nixon, Barbara Munnings, Curtis Hicks, Bruce Hicks, Darryl Hicks, and David Hicks; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Hicks, III.
