Obituary

George E. "Ed" Heit, 81, of Phoenixville, husband of Fern A. Heit, passed away on Friday evening, December 30, 2011, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, he was the son of the late George and Ruth Heit.

Mr. Heit received a B.S. in engineering in 1952 and his M.S. in engineering in 1954 from New York University. He began his career with General Electric in Schenectady, NY in June 1954, before serving in the United States Army from 1955-1957. He returned and retired from General Electric Aerospace in King of Prussia in February 1993. He continued as a consultant until 1995. From 1987-1993, Ed served as a Schuylkill Township Supervisor.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Heit is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Heit, of Phoenixville; son David Heit, of Phoenixville; granddaughter, Korinne Heit, of Phoenixville; and sister, Harriet Sandmeier, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Tresita Beach officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Valley Forge United Methodist Church, 1890 Valley Forge Road, Valley Forge, PA 19481 or to a charity of choice.
