George J. Held, 81, of Royersford, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021 at his residence. Born April 7, 1940 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Doris (Michaels) and George F. Held.

Growing up in Feasterville, PA, George graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1957. He received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, and pursued graduate work at Penn State University. He worked for Westinghouse in Baltimore and after moving to Lansdale, PA, he worked as a computer software engineer at Unisys in Bluebell, PA.

George was an avid bridge player and met his long time companion and bridge partner, Dena Schlegel, at a "Parents Without Partners" bridge game. Also a train enthusiast, he enjoyed working with his model trains and checking out steam train sites. George enjoyed watching Turner Classic Movies as well as Eagles and Penn State Football and Hopkins Lacrosse.

George is survived by his children: Elizabeth L., wife of Milton Hahn, of Alexandria, VA, Stephen G., husband of Karel Held, of Harrisburg, and Jonathan C., husband of Erika Held, of Cape Coral, FL; his long time companion: Dena J. Schlegel, of Royersford; grandchildren: Anya Held, Samantha Hahn, Tristan, Aiden and Julia Held; and siblings: Richard (Sue) Held, of Southampton, Charlotte (Ed Filipkoski) Devlin, of South Carolina, Betty Ann (Jim Lapera) Coull, of Norristown and Robert (Denise) Held, of Doylestown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his services Friday, October 29, 2021, at 11:00 am, at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA. Officiating will be Pastor George Betz. Interment will follow at Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends will be received from 10:00 am - 11:00 am Friday at Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home.
