George L. Kearney Sr., 72, of Spring City, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in the Seasons Hospice, Phoenixville. He was the husband of Eva M. (Linderman) Kearney. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John E. and Catherine B. (Coffman) Hamell.

Mr. Kearney was proud of his employment as an ironworker. He was a member of the American Italian Bocce Club in Royersford, the Pikeville Sportsmen’s Association and a life member of Liberty Fire Co. in Spring City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his dog, Angel.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Mr. Kearney is survived by his children, Arlene, wife of Alec Stillman, of Pottstown, Charlotte, wife of Howard Charles, of Pottstown, Tina, wife of Donald Shingle, of Birdsboro, and Stephen, husband of Angela Kearney, of Pottstown; sister, Catherine Shimer; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, George “Lumpy,” husband of Linda Kearney, of Linfield; grandson, Kyle Kearney; two brothers, Clarence Kearney Jr. and Charles Kearney Sr.; and half-sister, Mary Ewing.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Highland Memorial Park Mausoleum, 701 Farmington Avenue, Pottstown. Friends will be received from 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to the George Kearney Memorial Fund, c/o Customers Bank, 99 Bridge Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
