Obituary

George N. Powell Jr., age 72, husband of Barbara A. (Hijosh) Powell, of Spring City, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on February 22, 1952, in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Mary Alice (Evans) and George Powell.

A graduate of Spring-Ford High School Class of 70, George lived most of his life between Spring City and Royersford. He loved working at Brooke Elementary School and Haines Sunoco, speaking fondly of both, even after he could no longer work.

He enjoyed watching football, wrestling and star trek but his most favorite show was American idol, which he did not like to be bothered when watching. He loved country music, especially the new artist JellyRoll, which his family thought he just like saying the name. He loved to sit outside to just watch the cars go by and sometimes listen to music. George was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, working hard to provide for his family and making sure that they had everything that they needed. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and loved his wife so very much.

In addition to his loving wife of 44 years, George is survived by his children: Kevin E. Kerstetter, Shawn T. Powell, and Brittany L. Powell; grandchildren: Amber Kerstetter, Jayden Cuthbertson, Adriana Cuthbertson, Noah Vogin, Alex Powell, and Jacob Powell; brother: Patrick Powell; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of George's life will be planned soon for the near future.
