George Tadao Abe, age 96, of Schwenksville, PA, formerly of Fort Gratiot, MI, died late Sunday evening, November 6, 2011 at the home of his daughter in Schwenksville, PA. Born in Sacramento, CA, he was a son of the late Chusaku and Tsune (Takahashi) Abe. Mr. Abe attended the Sacremento Main High School. George was born to a farming family and took great pride in the work he did to raise California strawberries and grapes where little had grown before. Though born an American, World War II interrupted his early adult life and he was sent with his young family to an internment camp in Jerome, Arkansas. At the end of WWII, George relocated his family to Michigan, having been recruited to work there in the insurance industry. However, he soon found other work in the automobile industry, finally retiring to Port Huron, Michigan until the last months of his life, which he spent at his daughter's home in Pennsylvania.

In addition to his wife of 72 years, Mr. Abe is survived by six children; Allen Abe, of Florida, Genevieve, wife of Farris Fox, of North Carolina, Constance (Albert) Parsons, of Missouri, Karen, wife of Rusell "Joe" Hamel, of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, Margaret Abe Carley, of Michigan, Louis G. Abe of Yuba City, California, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Abe was pre-deceased by one brother; Frank Abe, one sister; Taneo Suzuki.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA on Wednesday afternoon, November 9, 2011 at 3:30PM. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 2:30 - 3:30 PM Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home.
