Gerald W. "Jerry" Powell, age 80, of East Coventry, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in the Seasons Hospice. Born on December 17, 1940 in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son of the late C. Wilford and Gertha (Fitzcharles) Powell.
Mr. Powell was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Phoenixville for many years. He worked as a Supervisor at American Machine and Tool in Royersford, retiring after 42 years. In 1968, he founded the Schuylkill Valley Model Railroad Club, where he remained active for the past 53 years. Jerry was also a member of the Valley Forge Model Ship Society, where he sailed radio-controlled boats on a pond off Hares Hill Road in Kimberton. An avid car enthusiast, he collected classic cars, enjoyed attending car shows, and was a past NHRA East Coast Drag Racing Champion.
Mr. Powell is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Ann, wife of the late Mark T. Brower Sr. of Phoenixville, PA and Valarie A., wife of Matthew Beckius of Collegeville, PA; four grandchildren, Shannon, wife of Nick Cain, Casey Brower, Katelyn Brower, and Evan Beckius; two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Kassidy; sister, Barbara Place of Phoenixville, PA; lifetime friend and former wife, Rose Ann Powell of Phoenixville, PA; and seven nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM.
