Gerald J. Shear, Sr., of Royersford, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 16, 2009 at Phoenixville Hospital at age 81. He was the husband of Ellen Mae (Bean) Shear.

Born in Quincy, IL, he was the son of the late Gerald and Edna (Gibson) Shear. Gerald served in the US Army stationed at Valley Forge Army Hospital. He was also employed for twenty-eight years as a crane operator at Cann & Saul until retiring.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Gerald Shear Jr. and wife Edna (Mikki), of Bechtelsville; William Shear, of Royersford, Ruth Bengel wife of the late WILLIAM (IF YOU WANT THIS IN), of Phoenixville and Mary Elizabeth Rosky and husband John, of Spring City; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister; Rose who died as a child.
