Gerhilde (Werner) Piunt, age 83, wife of the late Joseph W. Piunt, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022 in her residence. Born on March 5, 1939 in Wurzburg, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Auguste (Viel) and Dr. Wilhelm Werner.

Gerhilde was an avid reader and knitter. She loved to maintain her independence and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, going for walks and taking bus rides. Gerhilde was strong and resilient and was a cancer survivor.

She loved shopping and trips to the grocery store. She also loved cooking and was taught German and Italian style cooking so she could cook like there was no tomorrow. She could always make something out of nothing and would cook for an army! Gerhilde was always so concerned about everyone else and would often turn down help for herself. Above all was the love she had for her family.

Mrs. Piunt is survived by two sons: Stefan O. Piunt and his wife, Donna, of Pottstown, PA and Joseph W. Piunt, Jr., of Birdsboro, PA; three grandchildren: Michelle Haggerty, Lindsay Piunt and Austin Piunt; two great-grandchildren: Rilynn and Makhai; and sister: Anita Rott, of Prien am Chiemsee, Germany. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Jamie Piunti and brother: Klaus Werner.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gerhilde's name to Stretch The Ride, a local non-profit benefiting Pottstown cancer patients and their families, 1611 Medical Drive, Pottstown, PA 19464.
