Gertha H. (Fitzcharles) Powell, age 90, wife of the late Clarence Wilford "Bill" Powell, of Phoenixville, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2008, in the Phoenixville Hospital.? Born in Phoenixville, she was a daughter of the late Elmer H. and Helen M. (Francis) Fitzcharles.?
Mrs. Powell was a 1935 graduate of Phoenixville High School.? She was employed at the former W.T. Grants in Phoenixville, then as a cafeteria cashier for the Phoenixville Area School District.? She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ.? A housewife, Mrs. Powell enjoyed sewing and gardening and plants, especially her roses.?
Mrs. Powell is survived by daughter Barbara D. Place, of Phoenixville, son Gerald W. Powell, of Parkerford, sister Frances "Betty" Knapp of Spring City, Four Grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.? She was preceded in death by brother Elmer Fitzcharles, Jr., and sisters Ida Mull and Ethel Rupe. ??????
