Gloria Mae Rafalski's Obituary
Gloria M. Rafalski, 84, of Royersford passed on to her heavenly home on Monday evening, April 6, 2009 in the Pottstown Manor Care.
Gloria (Reichert) Rafalski was the widow of Anthony Rafalski, of Royersford. She was born, on Valentine's Day 1925, at her grandparent's home in Robesonia. She was the daughter of the late Irva (Seip) and Homer Reichert of Boyertown.
She is survived by one sister Virginia Reichert of Oley, three sons Anthony III and his wife Carol Rafalski of Florida, Edward Rafalski of Boyertown, Steven and his wife Kathleen Rafalski of Douglassville. Besides her sons, she is survived by one daughter Arlene wife of Scott Major of Pottstown. Gloria is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Gloria attended and graduated from Oley High School. After high school, she lived in Reading and worked as a waitress. She married Tony in 1946. They moved to Royersford in 1957.
Gloria and Tony own and operated Rafalski's Greenhouse. It was located on the corner of Lewis and Mennonite (now Yeager Road). They were best known for the pansy beds, where Gloria would dig out each pansy that the customer requested. Gloria also worked at Newberry's Five and Dime store in Royersford as a clerk. She loved to bake and gave out AP, banana and sponge cakes. She embroidered many items and would also give them as gifts. She was kind to animals and knew all the names of the dogs in her apartment complex.
An informal gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 10:00 - 10:30 at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA 19468. The graveside service and burial will immediately follow at the Fernwood Cemetery, Royersford. In lieu of flowers, Gloria requested that you make a contribution to an MAPAW Siberian Husky Rescue & Referral Service, 134 West 7th Street, Lansdale, PA 19446.
