Harold B. Greer, age 85, husband of Virginia L. (Himes) Greer, of Elverson, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in Ambler Extended Care Center. Born on January 6, 1937 in Tennessee and raised in Washington County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Pauline (Ham) and Roby Greer.
Harold honorably served in the United States Army as a firefighter while stationed in the United States and as a Fire Chief while stationed in Korea. He had been employed for many years as a tractor trailer welder for the former Budd Company, in Eagle, prior to his retirement from B.E. Wallace Products, in Frazer. Harold served for many years as cemetery caretaker at St. Peter U.C.C., Knauertown, keeping the grass manicured and taking care of the final resting places of many people that he knew.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Harold was an avid fisherman who loved taking his boat out on local lakes and only fished for Crappie. He also enjoyed hunting and archery, having won many archery awards and tournaments. Harold loved gardening and growing strawberries and blueberries. His backyard blueberry patch became well-known throughout the neighborhood. He loved canning and making blueberry jelly. Friends who came to visit never left without blueberries or a jar of blueberry jelly to take home. He enjoyed a daily morning walk up the road and loved to sit on his porch and wave to the cars that would beep as they passed by. Most of all, he was a devoted family man and his most important treasure was "Ginger," his wife of 62 years.
Mr. Greer is survived by his daughter Kathy, wife of Brian Greaves, of East Norriton; daughter-in-law Kitty Greer, of Elverson; granddaughter Heather N. Greer, of Elverson; brothers, Harlan, husband of Eula Greer, and Elmer Greer; and sisters, Betty Pennington, and Mary, wife of Allen Anderson. He was preceded in death by his son Richard B. Greer, and siblings, Robert, Jess, Albert, Spencer and Howard Greer, and Ruth Dolinger and Opal Greer.
