Harold Dean Sanders, 89, of Phoenixville, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on February 9, 1933 in Holt, Georgia, he was the son of the late George E. Sanders and Addie (Fountain) Merle. Harold honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany where he met his wife Luise (Guenther) Sanders, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.
Following his time in the Air Force Harold went to work as a Structural Engineer for Amtrak, where he designed railroad bridges. In his free time Harold enjoyed watching old television shows with his wife. He served as a volunteer for many years at PECO Field and was honored to be chosen as a volunteer of the year. He was also a skilled handyman. Family was the most important thing to him and he loved to be involved with any activities his children and grandchildren were doing.
In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by two sons, Michael D., husband of Karen Sanders of Schwenksville, PA and Thomas P. Sanders, husband of Jennifer Escarge of Royersford, PA; grandchildren, Kristen, wife of Kevin Bates, Julie, wife of Brad Gery, and Julia Depro. Harold was preceded in death by his nine siblings, daughter, Shirley A. Sanders-Benton, and grandson, Jeffrey T. Benton.
Services are pending and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Phoenixville Area Community Services, 101 Buchanan Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
