Helen Maybelle Ebert died at the age of 88 on January 15, 2014 at Springhouse Estates in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Helen was born on November 14, 1925 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of the late George Fulton Ebert and Marie Coulston Mooney Ebert. She was the sister of the late George Malcom Ebert, Frank Mooney Ebert, and Walter Winfield Ebert, and the late sister-in-law Janet “Jane” Schiele Ebert. Helen is survived by her nephews Gary Preston Ebert and Frank Ross Ebert, and her nieces Ellen Marie Ebert Craighead and Cynthia Ann Ebert Rayburn. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Smith Ebert and Barbara Ann Fulmer Ebert as well as many great nieces, nephews and longtime friends from all over the world.

Helen began her life on her parent’s Valley Forge Road farm and was educated in a one room school house. She attended Spring City High school and she graduated from Frankford High school in Philadelphia, PA. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry from Temple University and was employed by the Franklin Institute, Frankford Arsenal and retired from Smith Kline & French Pharmaceuticals after 30 years of service.

Helen loved the City of Philadelphia with all of its history, museums and libraries full of books. Oh, how she loved books, especially her own collection. Helen enjoyed traveling to many places all over the world, hiking along many trails on the hunt for wildflowers and birds and used her photographic talents to capture all of life’s experiences through the lens of her camera. Helen was an Emeritus member of the American Chemical Society and a participant in the Skyline Hikers of the Canadian Rockies. She was also generous in giving to many charitable organizations as well as to her family and friends throughout her lifetime.

Helen will be interned at St. Peter’s Pikeland Cemetery 1193 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, Pennsylvania 19425 on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Rick Shaw. In lieu of flowers, Helen has requested memorial gifts in her name to Temple University’s TU Teach Program, Barton Hall A306, 1900 N. 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122 and to Life Choice Hospice of Ambler, 200 Dryder Road, Dresher, PA 19025. Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral home in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania will carry out Helen’s last wishes.
