Helen Theresa Putz, age 85, formerly of Phoenixville, PA, died peacefully Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Brandywine Hall, West Chester. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Putz, Sr., and the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Kuzma) Yanchocik of Phoenixville.
Helen attended Sacred Heart School and Phoenixville High School. While attending high school, she was on the girl's varsity basketball team. After high school, she was employed briefly at the former Valley Forge Army Hospital, and then at the former Robert's Packing Company where she stayed until her retirement. Helen enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends on holidays and weekends. She was a wonderful dancer, and loved music, traveling, and her trips to the mountains and casinos. Helen loved animals, and was deeply saddened by the loss of her beloved Puggy, and her granddaughter's Boston terrier, Spud.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Putz, Jr., of West Chester, PA and Stephen, husband of Elizabeth Putz, of Coatesville, PA; one daughter, Leslie, wife of Scott Beavers, of Coatesville, PA; granddaughter Tara Beavers, fiancée of Shaun Abel, of Coatesville, PA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Stephen, Michael, and John Yanchocik, and her sisters Susan Yanchocik, Anna Owens, and Elizabeth Hockenberry.
