Helen P. Switzer's Obituary
Helen P. (Pike) Switzer, 87, a former resident of the Borough of Royersford for 55 years, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009, in the Atria Woodbridge Place in Kimberton where she resided for over a year. Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Elsie (Guss) Pike.
Mrs. Switzer was a 1938 graduate of Pottstown High School. She was employed as a sales associate and Department Head at the former Britts Department Store at Coventry Mall. She loved to sing, and was a member of the Choir at Pottstown United Methodist Church, and Royersford United Methodist Church, was a member of the Melody Maids and sang with the Meister Singers.
She was a former longtime member of the Royersford Womens Club and enjoyed bird watching and writing articles for The Mercury in the column called Nostalgia and Golden Memories.
Mrs. Switzer is survived by four daughters, Dr. Judith A. Switzer, of Langhorne, Lois C., wife of Mark Storti, of Royersford, Carol J., wife of Dennis Schroding, of Quakertown, and Cathy E., wife of Edward Minnick, of Royersford, two sisters, Catherine Smith, of Pottstown, and Sylvia Marion, of Elverson, one brother, The Rev. Robert Pike, of Cornwall, five grandchildren, Larry Schroding, Jessica and Jayme Ott, and Matthew and Steven Minnick, and one great-granddaughter, McKenna Schroding.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Maurice W. Myers, who was killed in World War II and W. Arthur Switzer, son, William A. Switzer Jr., and sister Elsie Crosby.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. at the Royersford United Methodist Church, Fourth Avenue and Church Street, Royersford. Officiating will be the Rev. Lee F. Adams. Friends will be received from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Helens memory to Heartland Hospice, 4070 Butler Pike, Suite 100, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Arrangements are being handled by the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Royersford. Condolences may be offered at www.RoyersfordFuneralHome.com.
