Obituary

Herbert E. Woodruff, age 95, husband of the late Margery (Gay) Woodruff, of Phoenixville, passed away on Sunday, February 09, 2014 in the Atria Woodbridge Place. Born in Chester Springs, PA, he was a son of the late Horace and Minerva (Jacobs) Woodruff.

Mr. Woodruff was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Phoenixville. He was an avid gardener, having farmed earlier in his life. Mr. Woodruff was a member of the Phoenix Lodge No. 75 F.& A.M., the Kimberton Grange #1304, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was also a member of the Roamers Hiking Club and active in the Phoenixville Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Woodruff is survived by four children, M. Gay, wife of Earlin Snyder Jr. of Phoenixville, Kenneth L, husband of Kathryn Woodruff of Morrisville, PA, Herbert E. Jr., husband of Kathleen Woodruff of Exton, and Timothy S. Woodruff of Pottstown; eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dora Mackelburg, and two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Woodruff.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Arlene Greenwald. Burial will follow in the Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received at the Church on Saturday from 9:30-10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the St. John’s UCC Memorial Fund, 315 Gay Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
