Herbert N. Yost
December 2, 1928 - August 17, 2022

Herbert Newton Yost, age 93, loving husband of 65 years to the late Alice (Kugler) Yost, of Parker Ford, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Born on December 2, 1928 in Parker Ford, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late John R. and Clara (Keplinger) Yost. He honorably served his Country in the U.S. Marine Reserves from 1948 - 50.

Mr. Yost was a graduate of Tampa High School, and would later go on to attend Penn State University. He was an expert plasterer/welder and a partner in Walters and Yost Plastering Business for years, Doehler-Jarvis, and 31 years as a welder at Dana Corporation in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting/fishing and traveled all over the U.S. on big game hunts and captured trophies from Wyoming, Maine, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania. He was a passionate boxing fan and attended many Championship Bouts in Atlantic City and Las Vegas with his son. One of his favorite activities was entertaining family and friends to watch major PPV Boxing Matches at his home. Herb enjoyed attending performances at the Valley Forge Music Fair with his wife and seeing many famous singers and comedians. He was a Penn State Football Fan and enjoyed watching the games every Saturday in the fall. Most of all he cherished spending time with his loving wife traveling the country, and spending time at their cabin in the Poconos.

Herb was very active in the Parker Ford Church of the Brethren serving for years as President of the Trustee Board, Church Treasurer, and a Deacon with his wife. He was one of the oldest living members of the Church. He was a Mason for 65 years at the Spring-Ford Lodge No. 553, and also Scout Master for Troop 29, and later District Commissioner. He was very active with Diamond Credit Union where he served on the Board of Directors for 26 years, with 16 of those years as Chairman of the Board. In 2009, he received the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association's Joseph A Moore Volunteer of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award.

Herb was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and dear friend to all and will be missed by many. He is survived by his son, Herbert B. Yost, of Parker Ford; sister, Darlette (John) Buchan, of Tampa; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Alice (William) Carl of Royersford, and Jane (Lynn) Brown of Tampa.

A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a future date at the Parker Ford Church, 20 Rinehart Road, Pottstown, Pennsylvania officiated by Reverend D. Jay Martin, and the Reverend David R. Willauer, his nephew. Burial will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Herb's name to the Parker Ford Church Building Fund.
