Obituary

Hermine Betty (Eisenberg) Liss, 89, wife of Gilbert Alvin Liss, of Phoenixville passed away on Thursday morning, December 12, 2019 in Seasons Hospice. Born on November 9, 1930 in the Bronx, New York, she was a daughter of the late Eva (Becker) and Louis Eisenberg.

Hermine received her Bachelors of Arts degree in early childhood from Hunter College in New York City. She was an active member of the B'Nai Jacob Synagogue, the Sisterhood B'Nai Jacob and volunteered at Phoenixville Hospital cuddling babies. She was a very bright and talented artist and pianist, but her focus in life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, from which she took tremendous pleasure. Of all her accomplishments in life, her major achievement was being a mother.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Liss is survived by her children: Dr. Jonathan Liss, and his wife Andrea, of York, PA, Dr. Robert Gary Liss, and his wife Celia Jane, of Pittsburgh, PA, Lawrence Bernard Liss, CPA, and his wife Wendy, of Devon, PA, Dr. Frederic Eliot Liss, and his wife Diane, of Malvern, PA and Abbe Liss Zuckerberg, and her husband Aaron, of Baltimore, MD; fourteen grandchildren: Naomi, Jacob, Toby, Hannah, Laura, Dana, Louis, Zachary, Kyle, Claire, Nathan, Elisheva, Jeremy and Gabriel; and four great-grandchildren: Talia, Isaac, Jackson and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her sister, Claire Goldstein.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Congregation B'Nai Jacob Synagogue, Starr and Manavon Streets, Phoenixville, PA on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 10:00 am. Officiating will be the Rabbi Jeff Sultar. Interment will follow in the B'nai Jacob Cemetery, Mont Clare, PA. Shiva will be observed Saturday evening through Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm at the Liss Residence, 335 S. Whitehorse Road, Phoenixville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Hermine's name to Barnstone Art For Kids, 388 W. Pothouse Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460, https://www.BarnstoneArtForKids.org/donate/.
