Howard "Lee" Shaner, age 83, Husband of late Sara Jane "Sally" Shaner of Pottstown,
Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, in the Pottstown Hospital,
Pottstown, PA. Born in Pottstown, he was the son of Mildred and Floyd Shaner.
Lee was a graduate of Pottstown High School Class of 1958. After completing high school, he opted to serve our nation in both the Army and then the Air Force until honorably discharged.
Lee was employed for many years at the Pottstown Mercury as a compositor. He later
worked as a psychiatric technician at Norristown State Hospital where he retired after 20 years. Lee enjoyed volunteering as a traffic controller with Norco Fire Company, and was a former member of the Parker Ford Baptist Church where he served on the cemetery board. He also served on the cemetery board for Mount Zion and Morris Cemeteries. Howard an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening, had a keen interest in antique cars, model trains, collecting coins. In recent years Lee was a frequent patron of Brookside Family Restaurant where he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his two daughters Heather L. Kent, Derene E. Scheeler, and son Andrew W. (Jennifer) Shaner. Also, survived by five grandchildren: Carolyn, Tyler, Katelyn, Gavin, and Ryder, and sister-in-law Maggie (the late Richard K.) Shaner. A private Celebration of Life service will be scheduled later at the convenience of the family.
