Howard Melvin "Mel" Smith, 82, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Nancy (Bickhart) Smith.
Mel was the son of the late Howard C. and Ruth (Hagner) Smith and spend most of his life living in Audubon, PA.
After serving 5 ½ years in the Navy he was employed by Rogers Mechanical Co. for 39 years as a plumber and pipefitter. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by sons: Barry (Mary), of Alburtis, Ron of Madison, NC and Glenn (Pat) of Trooper; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and sister, Flora Johnson of Limerick and brother, Walter, of Wyoming.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 11 AM at Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main St at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA. Officiating will be Rev. Rogers H. Bowyer Jr., pastor of Pawling Independent Baptist Church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Episcopal Cemetery, Oaks, PA. Receiving hours at the funeral home are from 10-11 AM.
