Kathryn Polefka, fondly known as Gert, formerly of Elverson, died on Thursday at Manatawny Manor at age 91. She was the wife of the late Albert B. Polefka.
Kathryn was born in Birchrunville to the late Howard L. and Ella Myrtle (Brown) Keeley. Mrs. Polefka was employed for many years in the area as a waitress. She was a member of St. Thomas More R.C. Church and Gold Star Mothers. Kathyrn enjoyed crossword puzzles, game shows and rooting for the Phillies.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Tammy Perry, wife of Steve, John Smith, husband of Megan, Kirsten Ferry, wife of Rob and Great-Grandchildren: Taylor, Easton, Nathan, Reece & Patrick. She was preceded in death by a son, John Arn Polefka, who was killed in Vietnam and a daughter, Charmaine Smith, wife of Henry Smith of Elverson.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 11 AM at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Rt. 100 and Cadmus Road, Pottstown, PA 19465. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh J. Dougherty. Calling time will be at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 AM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
