Obituary

Ira "Ike" Baker Jr., age 69, husband of Linda S. (Stehman) Baker, of Phoenixville, PA, and the late Barbara Baker, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Seasons Hospice, Phoenixville, PA Born on February 13, 1951 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Ira Sr. and Loretta (Deal) Baker.

Mr. Baker served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. He was a proud Marine and a proud American who loved our country. He worked for the former Fleming Foods in Oaks, PA for 29 years loading trucks and was a member of the Teamsters Local 500, District Council 21, VFW and a lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. In his younger years, Mr. Baker enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was an avid fan of the Phillies and Eagles and was thrilled when he finally saw the Eagles win a Super Bowl. Although he was often the life of the party, and known for some of his dance moves, he will most be remembered for his giving spirit and his caring, kind-hearted soul.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Baker is survived by three children, Ira Baker III of Philadelphia, PA, Robert, husband of Carol Ballard of Philadelphia, PA and Donna Ballard of Philadelphia, PA; three grandchildren, Dylan Baker, Robert Baker and Hayley Ballard; two sisters, Katherine, wife of Ed McGuire of Largo, FL and Bonnie, wife of George Wilson of Philadelphia, PA; and his beloved dog, Sadie. In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by two step-brothers, Jack and Walt Baker.

Due to current health recommendations from the CDC, services will be held and announced at a later date. Please check back for more information. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 1078 Egypt Road, Oaks, PA 19456.
