Obituary

Irene T. Hakun, formerly of Oaks, passed away on Sunday evening at Fox Chase Cancer Center at age 79. She was the wife of the late Michael Hakun, who passed away in 1997 after 45 years of marriage.

Born in Phoenixville, she was a daughter of the late Robert S. and Helen S. (Gawel) Fenyus. She was a graduate of Phoenixville. A devoted wife and mother, Irene and her husband also helped operate the Perkiomen Caf?. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Women of Holy Trinity.

She is survived by her sons: Dennis M. Hakun, of Westland, MI, Kenneth R. Hakun and wife Vicki, of Birchrunville and Kevin J. Hakun and wife Michele, of Royersford; sister, Helen M. Gadonas, of Kimberton; brothers: Robert S. Fenyus Jr., of Kimberton, Edmund R. Fenyus, of Oaks and Daniel J. Fenyus, of Philadelphia and grandchildren: Emily E., Michael C., Nicholas E., Clayton E., James M. and Amber R. Hakun. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Fenyus.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 12 Noon at Holy Trinity R.C.Church, 219 Dayton St. Phoenixville, PA 19460. Officiating will be Rev. Michael W. Rzonca. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Building Fund.
