J. Landis Stehman, 90, husband of the late Helen (Teaford) Stehman, of Upper Providence, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010, in the Golden Living Center, Phoenixville. He was the oldest of nine, born to the late John L. and Esther (Kopenhaver) Stehman.

Mr. Stehman was employed as a tire builder at the former BF Goodrich in Oaks for 38 years. He was a lifelong member of Green Tree Church of the Brethren, where he served as a Deacon and sang in the choir. Serving in the United States Army during World War II, he was one of seven brothers to serve their country in the Pacific. Mr. Stehman enjoyed golfing and gardening, and was an avid bicyclist, riding in many charity rides for MS.

Mr. Stehman is survived by his daughters, Linda Orner companion of Ike Baker of Upper Providence, and Elizabeth wife of Robert Berry of Spring City, son, Edward L. husband of Kathryn Stehman of Royersford, sisters, Anna E. Lacy of Creamery, and Mary J. Dewey of Conshohocken, brothers, Robert L. Stehman of Royersford, V. Dale Stehman, of King of Prussia, and Donald C. Stehman, of Phoenixville, five grandchildren, Christa and Amber Berry and Britt, Alicia, and Shaun Stehman, two great grandchildren, companion, Nancy Keyser, dog, Sage, cat, Sophie, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kaitlin Stehman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at the Green Tree Church of the Brethren, on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David A. Leiter. Inurnment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 1078 Egypt Road, Oaks, PA 19456.
