Jack C. Miller, 89, of Trappe, husband of the late Marguerite (Martin) Miller and the late Carmen (Morin) Miller, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Collegeville, he was the son of the late John and Marguerite (Conway) Miller.

Mr. Miller received his Masters degree in Pharmacology from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and an honorary PhD in Art Therapy. A Technician Fifth Grade in the United States Army he served in the European and Pacific Theatres during World War II.

Mr. Miller was the owner of a Japanese landscaping business which developed and maintained many Japanese moss gardens in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Known as the "Moss Man," he owned Dans La Forte, a 3 acre Japanese moss garden in Trappe which is included in the archives of American Gardens at the Smithsonian Institute. His garden was also nationally recognized in Architectural Digest and Garden Design magazines and The Green Scene, a publication of the Philadelphia Horticultural Society. He also provided tours to many garden clubs and groups.

Jack was a member of the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society, the American Rhododendron Society and the Rock Garden Society. He also co-owned the former Morin-Miller Galleries in New York City from 1985-1990. Jack enjoyed Japanese gardening, artwork, music and reading.

Mr. Miller is survived by his daughter, Lynne M., wife of Charles Henry, of Phoenixville; son, Craig C. Miller, of Royersford; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark S. Miller in 1988, and a daughter, Susan J. Garrison in 2010.
