James R. Hanley, 64, husband of Laura (Driscoll) Hanley, of Royersford, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Norristown, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Helen Hanley.

Mr. Hanley was a mechanical engineer formerly with Fetterolf Corporation. He was a decorated Army veteran, serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Jim was an accomplished musician, proficient in several instruments, having performed with his brothers in area bands and drum corps. Mr. Hanley enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, was a National Rifle Association member and an accomplished gunsmith. Jim and his brother were race car builders and raced at area dirt tracks during the seventies. More recently, they were members of the New Jersey State Vintage Stock Car Club with their 1937 Chevy Coupe.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hanley is survived by: his daughter: Lori wife of Steven Tomlinson, of Birchrunville; two brothers: Kenneth and Francis Hanley, both of Norristown, Uncle: John Saylor, of Norristown; Mother-in-law: Jean Driscoll, of Spring City; and brother-in-law: Edward Driscoll, of Narvon. He was predeceased by a sister Helen who died in infancy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Hanley's funeral service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Matthew Polder.
