James A. Lowrie
July 22, 1939 - November 7, 2017

James A. Lowrie, age 78, of Mont Clare, went home to meet his Maker on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. He was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School, Class of '57 and a graduate of Pierce Business School of Computer Business. He also had an associate degree in Psychology and Social Work. James was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

After working in the business world for several years, James began his career in the Mental Health field in 1971 at the former Pennhurst Center. He was a Supervisor of the children's unit. After seven years there, he opened and operated his own Personal Care Boarding Home for mentally challenged young children and adults on a farm in Chester County, for eight years.

James resided in Pine Forge, PA from 1985 - 1995 while working at Building 50 NSH, as a Psychiatric Aide, then Crisis Intervention Caseworker in the intake Dept at Bldg. 50 from '85 to '91. He then became the CRR Supervisor for Human Services Group Homes in West Chester. He then took a position with Human Services as an Intensive Case manager. Later he was part of the team that organized Chester County's Forensic Case management program through Human Services, working with, and counseling, mentally challenged adults from Chester County Prison. He also worked as a Crisis Intervention Caseworker for Chester County Crisis, West Chester.

Mr. Lowrie was also the Mental Health Court Coordinator and Hospital Liaison for the Chester County BSU and Human Services Inc., in West Chester and Downingtown, PA. He retired in 2002. For the last fifteen years, James has resided at the Meadows Condominiums in Mont Clare, PA. He was a part time life guard there, and served on the Board of Directors.

James, who was single, was the son of the late James and Mary (Pufko) Lowrie. He is survived by his loving sister, Barbara Louise (Lowrie) Robinson, of Pennsburg, PA, and her husband, Clark. Also surviving are one niece and three nephews, nine great nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece and nephew.

The Memorial Liturgy will be served on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Saint Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Amelia and Landis Streets, Mont Clare, PA by Fr. Harry Untereiner. Interment will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Phoenixville. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting Mass Cards from St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church or monetary donations to St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 203 Jacob Street, Mont Clare, PA 19453.
